To further the Council’s objective of developing standards throughout the industry through educational activities the Council has created a not-for profit Academy providing industry bespoke online training courses to complement the in-house training already provided by industry stakeholders.
An Academic Advisory Group comprising a broad section of industry expertise from some of the leading retailers and brands, across all major product categories, plus global perspectives from the DFWC and TFWA inform the type of courses offered by the Academy and provides unrivalled oversight of content relevancy and accuracy.
The Academy works with its partners ACI World Training and best-in-class course designers to ensure its training delivers quantifiable and actionable learning outcomes.
This course gives students an understanding of the duty free and travel retail landscape, from its key players to its operating model. It explores the characteristics of shoppers in the channel, the main purchase drivers and barriers, and demonstrates best practice on how to drive sales and deliver the best shopping experience.

Following an industry wide consultation sets of professional standards have been developed for frontline sales staff. These are designed to support sales professionals with category specific best practice for the fragrance and tobacco categories.
